In September I was asked by the advertising agency in charge of Bill’s Restaurants to photograph the new refitted interior of their Rushden restaurant at Rushden Lakes leisure and shopping development. The flagship restaurant sits beside an idyllic lake known for its bird watching and pleasure boating as well as alongside great shopping and leisure facilities. On a bright and crisp early September morning, before breakfast was served to hungry customers, I began my shoot. The bright interior allows early morning light to flood into front of the restaurant by the bar and the lake is given prime viewing space at the rear of the restaurant. The central area is lit with key lighting from vintage chandeliers and the atmosphere is decidedly more intimate with deep tones, velvet cushions and sumptuous leather booths. As the darkness descends into the evening this warm and cosy feel moves into the once daylight lit areas at opposite areas of the restaurant. My photography needed to capture both the setting of the restaurant as well as the interior design and ‘feel’ of the space across its floorplan. Photography of key dishes from their new menu also took place on site and once set-up completed the interior design and lighting.
